Andrew returned to Haiti in February 2012. If you're a Facebook user, Like "Global NIM - Road Trips" to view trip postings and photos.
Also, here's a recent YouTube video by videographer, LRay,
of the orphanage kids dancing, playing and just being kids. You'll love it!
We are grateful for Brian Lloyd of Harvest Field Haiti in Knoxville, TN, who is our partner for Pastor Ezena and the orphanage.
In 1986, Haitian Pastor Yvon Ezena created OCRPH to house, train and care for, in a nurturing environment, the most vulnerable children of Haiti. He encountered hurting children while serving as a pastor in several churches and knew God was calling him to 'Be the One' to help them.
OCRPH's orphanage structure in Port-au-Prince was severely compromised in the January 12, 2010 earthquake. Andrew Nimick visited Pastor Ezena, his family, volunteers and 20 orphan children in March 2010 to evaluate the situation and discuss future opportunities. In early April 2010 the entire group moved to Les Anglais, a village west of Les Cayes in the southwestern portion of the island, the Pastor's home town. Since then plans have developed to build an orphanage or a school on newly purchased property (presently, they are renting a house). In March 2011 three water wells were drilled: one for the property and two for the villagers' use.
Orphanage/school construction can proceed only with a decent truck to reliably transport equipment and materials to remote Les Anglais. Global NIM wishes to purchase a hefty truck for this purpose as well as for future income-producing activities (group taxi services to major cities). Cost - $40,000.
Global NIM has partnered with Pastor Ezena to help support the children. Child sponsorships are available at $60/month or partial sponsorships for $30/month; annual sponsorships are also available. Along with other sponsors and occasional one time gifts, the children are provided provided food, propane for cooking, purified water, housing/rent, clothes/shoes, hygiene items, caretakers, routine medical care, schooling and educational supplies.
Of course, a loving Christian home environment is priceless. And the prayers for your sponsored child are the most powerful support he/she could ever imagine.
We eagerly seek people with a heart for Haiti's children. Please
