Good Shepherd Mission


With its main campus in Puttur, Andhra Pradesh, India, Brother Henry Bhasker and his son, Praveen, and staff have a full plate managing Good Shepherd Mission (“GSM”).

Founded by Henry and his late wife in 1979 GSM has grown to become a multi-site, multi-functional outreach serving southern Andhra Pradesh’s underprivileged in many and varied ways, including:

  • Surgical hospital for the poor and a separate rural medical clinic
  • Free cataract surgeries
  • Dental care
  • Orphanage homes for 175 boys and for girls in three locales
  • Elder and disabled adult care
  • Residential living for HIV/AIDS/TB patients
  • Twelve village churches with local pastors/evangelists
  • Outreach events focused on teens
  • New: Christian school for children from disadvantaged families, primarily, of other faiths
